Pancakes for baby!

Between Candlemas and Shrove Tuesday, February is definitely crepe month. Although, for my part, I don't specifically wait for this month to prepare this simple and festive snack!

But at what age can we introduce this treat to our babies?

You can offer your baby a small crepe to eat with their fingers, once they are quite experienced with solids, around 12 months.

Here is our egg-free crepe recipe for babies

But why egg-free crepes?

In fact, except for babies who have declared an egg protein allergy, since eggs are cooked in traditional crepe recipes, it is not advisable to give them at this age.

However, eggs act as a binder and provide structure, making the batter a little elastic. Without eggs, crepes are softer and easier to chew for a baby who doesn't have all their teeth yet. They 'break' more easily in the mouth, limiting the risk of choking.

The other advantage is that they are easier to digest. Eggs are rich in protein and fat, so an egg-free version will be easier and quicker for small, still-learning stomachs to digest.

So get out your pans! AND LONG LIVE CREPES!!!
